Sloane Street: Une Place Sure La Terrace

Bringing the community together with social distancing at Pickett

Pickett has a loyal customer base, patrons who have shopped with us for years. They pop in to peruse gifts for dinner parties, essentials for upcoming travel or trinkets for special occasion. More recently our customers have been shopping online, buying games to occupy their time at home, lockdown luxuries in the form of home decor and sending gifts to their loved ones for birthdays and anniversaries that they cannot be present for.

Alongside the shopping experience at Pickett, our customers and friends of the brand enjoy the social side of our stores. Trevor Pickett is still the number one Salesman on the shop floor, mostly at Albany but of late a constant at the Sloane Street store. He is a delight to converse with, a passionate storyteller and so much more. We often get thanks sent for his great knowledge and experience of the brand.

As the team at Pickett alongside Trevor have missed the social side of retail we have made it our goal to return to Sloane Street with a bang.

(Inspired by Paris - Vincent Van Gough Cafe Terrace at Night)

We have launched La Place du Terrace at Pickett. Our very own “lawn” with the opportunity to drink coffee or picnic al fresco while one waits to enter the store or just to embrace the community once more. Bringing Paris to the streets of Chelsea!

The past week we have enjoyed many visitors, shoppers, those who have come to converse and even some canine chums who have been spoilt with new leads and a fresh bowl of water. We even now have a Pigeonniere, which makes Pickett outdoor living an environmentally friendly and zoologic experience. As we embrace hot desk offices and shared work spaces, like the church, retail too has to move with the times and we are certainly joining in!

Bringing the community together is so important to help support our neighbours as we emerge from this difficult time. Pickett une place sur la terrace, our return includes the addition of this outside space. Somewhere we can interact over a metaphoric sharing platter of food and conversation in an oasis of optimism for the future. We are planning more mini events that will give the local customers of Chelsea an experience they will not get anywhere else as we look forward to Queen’s and Wimbledon, Henley close behind and performances from Glyndebourne hoping to show on screen performances, something which we are all sorely missing without the ability to be anywhere in person.
