Financial Times: How To Spend It
The prospect of a 30th anniversary put Trevor Pickett in mind of the fledgling years of his British handmade leather goods business and its first bag collection in a distinctive burgundy finish. It seemed fitting to revisit the colour way for a new celebratory collection, which includes a number of limited edition pieces, available in the Burlington Gardens emporium from Tuesday August 28.
Holdalls and luggage (from £550 for a medium holdall to £795 for a wheelie bag) that fit the bill for men and women are lighter in weight and more casual than the originals and coated in waterproofed canvas with chocolate-brown leather trims. The Picasso shoulder bag (£395) – a boho shopper in soft-grained, unlined leather with distinctive squared-off corners and a dark-brown bridle leather handle – sits alongside small leather items and jewellery rolls and boxes with a mauve suede lining.
The made-to-order limited edition pieces include a collection of 30 umbrellas (£285) featuring plated-nickel dog heads; 10 inlaid leather/wooden backgammon boards (£1,250) in several colour combinations with resin counters and leather-covered shakers; and fine leather gloves (£195) embellished with by-product rabbit-fur trim.
