We’ve been huge fans of Art in Mayfair since it started five years ago and are delighted to see it return this month. This fabulous event - which runs until 17 October and is organised by Bond Street in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts - sees Mayfair transformed into an open art exhibition for a six-week period, and this year we’re marking the occasion by joining forces with the Rebecca Hossack Gallery to turn the window of our Burlington store into a gallery featuring work from artists Phil Shaw and Barbara MacFarlane.
The windows will provide an inspirational and thought-provoking stop-off point for those walking through Mayfair, but in true Pickett style, we’ll be taking things one step further and offering a creative journey in-store too, with further pieces to discover over our two floors. The display will feature multi-medium genres, oil, bronze, lead, collage, drawings, watercolours, and ceramics - truly something to appeal to every artistic eye. We hope you’ll come in to see us and celebrate creativity at its finest!
Art in Mayfair coincides with the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition, which this year is taking place in...autumn and winter. Running from 22 September to 2 January 2022, the annual spectacular is back with 1,300 pieces of artwork adhering to the enchanting theme ‘Reclaiming Magic’. Make sure you combine your trip with a visit to see us too...
Another event swapping seasons in 2021 is Chelsea Flower Show, which takes place from 21-26 September. This year’s distinctly autumnal event promises to be quite the beautiful occasion, and the Pickett team can’t wait, as Trevor reveals. “Everyone is excited about this year’s Chelsea Flower Show,” he says. “It’s an event we usually associate with spring but to see it happen in autumn is exciting as it’s an equally beautiful season, and there are all sorts of flowers that we don’t think about, such as dahlias, in beautiful rich reds and oranges. It’s going to be a different but interesting show that I’m looking forward to seeing. I’ll be seeking inspiration for my own garden in Suffolk, where I’ve successfully cultivated a wood of 30 trees and a pathways lined with lavender and nepeta.”
After an exhausting day at the show, it’s important to have places in mind where you can head to chill out, says Trevor, whose must-visit spots include:
Pavilion Road, particularly Hans’ Bar & Grill, Granger & Co, and Ice Cream Union
Let the florals inspire your Autumnal look and treat yourself to a Pickett Pashmina...
